AFA Awards Aerospace Education Grants to Civil Air Patrol Squadrons
Twenty $250 grants were provided to CAP squadrons to promote aerospace education for hundreds of students. These AFA
grants are awarded four times each year, twice to units and twice to educators, for use in any Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) activity or materials that promote aerospace education. Click here

- Created by AFA with First Command Educational Foundation to provide two $5,000 scholarships
to highly qualified AFROTC cadets coming into their junior or senior year in the fall and committed to a course of study in science, technology, engineering or math (STEM).
Air Force Excellence Scholarship - Created by AFA with First Command Educational Foundation to provide five $3,000
scholarships to students who have achieved academic excellence and contributed to their community in a significant way. Deadline for applications is April 30, 2010.
Four Year scholarship to Grantham University - This full four-year scholarship for an active duty dependent, an AFA
member or a dependent of an AFA member incorporates furthering education in the study of science, mathematics, technology or engineering through distance learning. The application process runs from April through mid-June.
The Air Force Spouse Scholarship - Designed to encourage Air Force spouses worldwide to pursue associate/bachelor undergraduate or graduate/postgraduate degrees. The application process runs from January to April, 2010.
The Captain Jodi Callahan Memorial Scholarship - provides financial assistance and recognition to an active duty Air
Force full time guard or reserve (officer or enlisted) person who is pursuing a Master's degree in a non-technical field. The application process runs from January to June.
Pitsenbarger Awards - Provide a one-time grant of $400 to selected top active duty, guard and reserve enlisted personnel
graduating from the Community College of the Air Force who plan to pursue a baccalaureate degree. Grants coincide with the CCAF graduation ceremonies held each spring and fall.
Lt Col Romeo and Josephine Bass Ferretti Scholarship - Made possible by an endowment from the Ferretti's, long time
supporters of AFA and advocates of education. The application process runs from January through June. The recipients will be selected based upon high academic standards, good character and financial need.

No copays for some preventive medical services - In September 2009, to increase access and lower the cost of preventive medical
services for Standard beneficiaries, TRICARESM eliminated the cost shares for several preventive medical services including some cancer screenings, immunizations and well-child care. sites any time soon. Current regional health care contractors, Health Net Federal Services in the North, Humana Military Healthcare
